Ras Nungwi

Kendwa Amaan

This beautiful beach resort is located just south of the northern tip of the largest land mass of Zanzibar. The Deluxe Ocean View Rooms are found at the newly constructed section that offers panoramic views of the ocean with a raised foundation. These rooms include air conditioning.
Other types of rooms include Garden View Room, Hill View Room, Premium Ocean View Room and the Standard Ocean View Rooms.

Nungwi Village

If you're looking for a place to put up your feet, relax and feel at home, Nungwi Village Beach Resort is a good choice. This superb little lodge is situated on a lovely strip of coastline.

Nungwi Village Beach Resort consists of several seafront bungalows

Each of the seafront bungalow consists of four self contained Premium seafront rooms. All these rooms are mostly contrived to give the maximum panoramic sea views and cool sea breezes. They are all ensuite with ac and mostly furnished with handcrafted four poster beds with the beautiful Zanzibar style wooden décor and a spacious balcony frontage.
There are also other type of standard non-seafront rooms ideal for the groups and youths. They are built jointly in two wings each with eight rooms.These rooms are all self contained with air conditioners.

Our beautiful restaurant overlooking the blue Indian Ocean serves mainly seafood as well as continental and vegetarian dishes.

Mnarani Cottages

Mnarani is based on the northern tip of Zanzibar Island right in the heart of the village of Nungwi. “Mnarani” means lighthouse in Swahili and here on the eastern ridge of the village you will find the oldest lighthouse in Zanzibar, built in 1886 and still in operation today.

Mnarani Beach Cottages offer a coral lagoon changing with the tides as well as the seasons, Mnarani has one of the finest beaches in the Indian Ocean. When the tide is out, take a long walk on the golden sands and see what Nungwi really has to offer.

Amaan Bungalows

As we are on the north western point – we are able to view beautiful sunsets. As we are in Nungwi, the northern most part – we have wild tropical surroundings and pristine white beaches, and as we are on Zanzibar, we are surrounding by the unforgettable turquoise water of the Indian Ocean.

The area we are situated, Nungwi, is and always has been the spot with the most atmosphere and good vibes of the island. Most of the hotels and bungalows are situated in close proximity to each other and all the beaches and restaurants are open for anyone to go to, so the general feel of the locale is friendly and inviting. The local village of Nungwi is in close proximity so tourism and the local cultural heritage mingle on an everyday basis. The fish are still brought on the backs of bicycles, the local fisherman still use their picturesque Dhows to fish on, Zanzibar is still very much Zanzibar in the wild northern region. We at Amaan Bungalows try to use our rich cultural and exotic surrounding to hopefully give our guests a one-of-a-kind holiday so please, karibuni!
Sea View Rooms
We have 16 seaview rooms that can boast that they are the only rooms in Nungwi that extend over the beautiful turquoise Indian Ocean with their balconies, and create a perfect evert-time sunset setting. Inside, done in typical Zanzibar style, wooden decor, they are able to sleep either twin or double beds of maximum 2 person occupancy and are all air-conditioned, providing a welcomed relief from the tropical sun. They are spacious and comfortable rooms that each have ceiling fans, mosquito nets and en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold water. What would be better than falling asleep to the sound of the ocean!
Deluxe Rooms
Our deluxe rooms are situated slightly further back from the sea having our tropical gardens as surroundings, but are still within 2 minutes walking distance from the nearest beaches. Air-conditioned rooms, they provide cool relief and privacy, as they are comfortable and spacious, decked out in the typical Zanzibar styled wooden furniture. They each have ceiling fans, mosquito nets and their own en-suite bathrooms that have both hot and cold water. We have 17 of this room type and they have an option of either 2 or 3 person maximum occupancy, as some of our deluxe rooms are large enough to accommodate triples in the form of 3 single beds. A new addition to these rooms is that 2 sets of them can now be converted into family rooms as they have an inter-leading door in-between them.
Garden View
Our gardenview rooms are clustered together in the lush surrounding gardens, perfect for group bookings for friends and overlands. They may be situated further back on the property but they are also within 2 minutes walk of the nearest beaches and restaurants.
They each have mosquito nets, ceiling fans and en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold water in each.
We have 19 of these rooms that are furnished in typical Zanzibar wooden style, and they only accommodate 2 twin beds in each, no double beds at the moment. A new addition to these rooms is that 2 sets of them can now be converted into family room as they have an inter-leading door in-between them.

Smiles Beach

And because there are only 16 rooms, you can make the place your home. There are no crowds, no shops, just plenty of places to read a book, laze under the shade of a palm tree, or just watch the dhows returning from a day's fishing with the sun setting in the background. And for those wanting to do something a little more energetic, our friendly staff are more than happy to organise snorkelling, diving, fishing and other activities with operators in the area.
Our intimate, makuti-thatch restaurant overlooks the beach, and serves only the freshest Swahili and international dishes - reflecting the best that the Indian Ocean has to offer. And if you fancy dining on the beach by candlelight, or having a bbq with friends, just ask - because at Smiles we're happy if you're happy.
All our rooms have a balcony or terrace with sea views, a/c, satellite TV (if you can tear yourself away from the view) and pristine ensuite bathrooms with hot and cold water.
The raised beds are draped in mosquito nets, and so comfortable our guests sometimes find it hard to leave. Luckily there's no need, as we're more than happy to serve a sumptuous breakfast in bed.
