Mt Kenya Technical Climb
ESSK 045: 7 Days Normal (South East Face) Route
(December - March)
Day 1: Day 1 Nairobi –
Youth Hostel
Depart Nairobi in the morning at 0830hrs and drive to Naromoru the base
for climbing Mt. Kenya arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon transfer
to the Mount Kenya Youth Hostels for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 Youth hostel –
Met Station
After breakfast proceed to Naromoru park gate and start hiking to Met
Station (3300m ) . Hiking takes about 3 hrs. Dinner and overnight at the
camp
Day
3 Met Station – Mackinders
Depart after breakfast and proceed to Teleki valley with a picnic lunch
en-route arriving Mackinders Camp (4300m) early evening . Dinner and overnight
at camp.
Day 4 Mackinders—Austrian
Hut
Depart Mackinders after breakfast and walk along a steep screw to Austrian
Hut (4700m) taking about 3 hrs. Dinner and overnight at the campsite at
Austrian Hut.
Day 5 Summit Day
- Batian Peak
Wake up early to a hot cup of tea and then cross the Lewis gracier where
you start your technical climbing for about 7hrs to the summit ( Batian)
, then return to Austrian Hut for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 Point Lenana
- Old Moses
Wake up early (0530hrs) and climb to Point Lenana which is approx 1.5kms
for 45minutes. After a photo session at Point Lenana, you will descend
to Shipton Camp for a full breakfast then futher down along Mackinders
Valley to Old Moses for a late lunch. Dinner and overnight at Old Moses
Ccamp.
Day 7 Old Moses –
Back to Nairobi
After breakfast descend down a 9kms walk to Sirimobn Gate where you will
get your transport back to Nairobi, with a lunch stop at Nanyuki. End
of service.

taxi
- I night fullboard accommodation at Mt Kenya Youth Hostels

- climbing equipments
